Two Motown classics; The Isley Brothers’ flipside to Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me A Little While), Why When Love Is Gone (written by Ivy Hunter) comes with a rollicking Tamla backbeat and an anthemic fist punching heartbreaking chorus line. Released in 1967 in the UK, copies go for £40 on the original label.
The flipside features the previously unreleased on 7” Can’t Hold Back The Feeling, recorded in 1966 by the enigmatic Brenda Holloway. A string-driven slice of euphoric soul, it features Brenda’s deep soulful croon (which hit big with Every Little But Hurts) on an emphatic stomper.
