Signed to Blue Note in 1987, vocalist, Dianne Reeves, was on a tear of three straight Grammy-winning albums when she recorded her holiday collection, Christmas Time Is Heree in 2004.
With an acute sense of phrasing, Reeves and a top-notch line-up of musicians led by pianist and co-producer, Peter Martin, set down fresh and innovative interpretations of eleven holiday standards, ranging from simple balladry, torchy love songs, and delicate folk arrangements, to the finger-popping and syncopated swing beat of up-tempo tunes, and Bossa Nova flavoured arrangements.
The album is generous with solos and showcases Dianne’s gift for scat, and delight in singing in and out of melody lines and pushing a phrase above, below, and sometimes beyond.
