Camgirl is the breakthrough album from Boston’s Crippling Alcoholism, fusing noise rock, post-punk, industrial, and dark pop into ear‑worm melodies wrapped in abrasive textures. It traces the tangled edges of pleasure, shame, obsession, and survival, following a loose narrative of performance and visibility where desire and despair collide. Hooks remain immediate even as the lyrics refuse easy comfort, and the record ultimately lands on a quietly defiant, hard‑won sense of persistence. Originally issued by Portrayal of Guilt Records and now reissued by The Flenser—after an initial pressing sold out quickly—Camgirl stands as a defining statement from a band working at the intersection of pop form and noise‑driven intensity. For fans of Chat Pile, Model/Actriz, Have a Nice Life, and Swans.
