Release Date: 17/04/26
Alabama duo Sister Ray Davies follow their debut album Holy Island with an EP of alternative versions and reworkings, released on April 17 via Sonic Cathedral ahead of their first UK tour. The EP features two Pye Corner Audio remixes of ‘Aidan’ (harder, Suicide-style) and ‘Morning Bell’ (expanding the ambient elements), plus a Boards Of Canada-style version of ‘Nave’ by Malaphors (Chris Tomsett/Innerstrings). The band rework ‘Iona’ as a Portside Dub using effects-box stems and present ‘Big Ships’ as a Live Guitar Armada version recorded to tape at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio B with nine acoustic guitar players. A genre-collapsing, alternative release adding layers and depth to the original album. Tracklisting: 1) Aidan (Pye Corner Audio Mix) 2) Iona (Portside Dub) 3) Big Ships (Live Guitar Armada Version) 4) Morning Bell (Pye Corner Audio Mix) 5) Nave (Malaphors Mix).
