‘Sings Again’ is the fifth album from British electronic musician Will Samson. After a pair of largely instrumental albums, Samson sings again. Built around an organic sonic landscape of electronic and acoustic influences, the record features old tape machines and a 1971 Sennheiser microphone for vocals. Taking cues from early Björk, Four Tet and Efterklang, Samson sampled organic sounds (twigs, rocks, paintbrushes) to create percussion; an empty glass bottle became the organ on opener “0333AM,” and his own voice forms the moody synth on “Darabuka.” Highlights include the hypnotic, emotionally resonant “Time Used To Feel Like” and grand finale “Julian’s Rocks,” offering a raw, vulnerable portrait of an artist beginning again. Tracklist: 0333AM; Signs Of Life; Whale Pebble; Paralysed; Darabuka; Numb Year; Time Used To Feel Like; A Spell; Harvest Hope; Julian's Rocks.
