Released in 1977, Steely Dan's Aja would go on to be their biggest selling album. Diametrically opposed to the burgeoning punk seen of the time, Aja was Steely Dan's most expensive-sounding record with the best session players, the best studio equipment and of course the technical prowess of Fagen and Becker. All the Steely Dan hallmarks are here - the smoothed out jazz rock flights, the muted grooves riding on an almost narcotic bliss, the effervescently tasteful arrangements. Basically if you dig the Dan this record is headphone heaven and if you don't, well, you just don't.
